Let’s take a short break- What is going on with these articles on Substack? What is this? A book? A column? A series of unhinged rants? The musings of a frustrated one-person businessman and entrepreneur? The thoughts of a misplaced academic? What is the thread that holds all this together? Is it worth the time to keep reading? Is it worth my effort to keep writing? What is this guy trying to prove?
What fantasy is this effort based on? My fantasy is that I am not alone out there. My fantasy is that there a lot of people like writers, artists, musicians, small businesspeople, entrepreneurs, politicians, influencers, teachers, lecturers, leaders, inventors, etc. who need someone to give them a kick in the rear-end, ask relevant questions, suggest basic principles to think through in their effort to make a difference, provide some theory on self-development, put things in a societal perspective and give encouragement.
My fantasy is that many people want to do good and, at the same time, make a decent living for themselves and their families.
My fantasy is that I have spent a considerable amount of time thinking about issues relevant to people like me, who are creators and influencers, and that these thoughts would be valuable to those in a similar position.
What I do know is that I don’t know. I know what I do well, but am very aware of what I do poorly – empirical research, hunting for perfection, relying too much on opinions instead of facts and relying almost totally upon my intuition and emotions instead of building some kind of master-mind group or collaborative group to question, provoke and both question and support my ambitions, process, style and form.
What do you know that you don’t know, and what do you need to know to make a difference by using your particular skills and talents?

With all this in mind, we continue on this explorative journey into doing good with a little bit of the theory behind my approach.
Consider this: Take a step back and consider why you are still reading these posts. What are you getting out of it? What message has stuck with you so far? (Tell me, please.) What do you know that you don’t know?
